Sometimes the fear feels far away from me Without it I am someone else But I’m an unsuspecting enemy And it’s just waiting in the doubt I’ve got a feeling I should have see this from a mile away Cuz every time that I get this close it always comes awake          So brace yourself It’s taking over (You) better find a way Or get run over Brace yourself So brace yourself   I lose control as it comes over me Like a disease it spreads throughout And in this prison of uncertainty The hardest part is breaking out I’ve got a feeling I should see this from a mile away Cuz every time that I get this close I feel like I’m the prey So brace yourself It’s taking over (You) better find a way Or get run over Brace yourself So brace yourself

Oh we all begin as fodder At the sunrise of our lives A new identity gets bolder Until it’s held up to the light And I think I might want to change it Cuz I don’t know if I’m still right And it feels like dying But it feels alright And I feel I’m trying To remain the same but take charge of my life My reflection has been altered Into someone in disguise Changing shape just like the water Falling from confounding skies And I think I might want to change it Until I find what is right And it feels like dying But it feels alright And I feel I’m trying To remain the same but take charge of my life

Far Away 03:47
If time is a lie why are we waiting for it Cuz I feel alive only when I'm at your side So why, why don't we fly away to another sky I think it's time that we escape   And we'll go, yea we'll go, so far away We'll go, yea we'll go, so far away   I see the light from within draining from your eyes I feel the life wearing thin on the inside So why, why don’t we fly away to another sky I think it’s time for us to say   That we'll go, yea we'll go, so far away We'll go, yea we'll go, so far away To a place in the stars even heaven can’t fake Yea we’ll go to the ends of the universe

Roll 04:41
I know its hard to pick yourself up and go Sometimes it feels like an anchor weighing down on your soul When they call themselves angels but they hail from below With a fire   They try to keep you down cuz they think you’ll never know They’re fighting tooth and nail and keep you under control Cuz they know it won’t last as soon as you run the show Its just fine   Keep showing everything, even when told you shouldn’t Keep showing everything, body and soul, you’ve got to Keep showing everything, learn to let go And just roll   Don’t ever feel like you should hide what you mean It take our whole generation to break down the machine It’s a war not a battle don’t give up at the scene And lay down   You’ve got to keep fighting on and learn to break ‘em down slow And someday you’ll be victorious and make them forgo Everything they’ve said and done to try and keep you low It's your time

about

From the confessional eponymous track “The Fear” which captures Alley’s intimate relationship with the feeling as a possession “I lose control as it comes over me, like a disease is spreads throughout” to “Feels Like Dying” and it’s struggle with growth through the pain of constant self-examination “A new identity gets bolder, until it’s held up to the light,” The Fear is a fiercely personal statement by the duo demonstrating that to evolve as an artist you must first evolve as a person.

The foundation of The Fear is Maldonado’s intrinsic beats, emphasized by his intense and energetic playing style. Matched by Alley’s thundering piano and powerfully melodic vocals, they forge a unique path between alternative rock and indie pop. With the addition of bass and guitar, the soundscape leads you on an adventure through the feelings and trials of the human experience.

about

TRIGRAMS Los Angeles, California

TRIGRAMS was built by night as Coleman Alley and Mark Maldonado locked themselves in a tiny studio with nothing more than drums and a piano searching for their musical identity. The goal was to find something honest and insightful to help them better understand themselves and deal with the culture surrounding them. ... more
